Learning to Unblend from Parts

ree

I've spent the past 3 or so years dedicating myself to learning IFS, to building a check-in routine and attempting to self-unburden parts and you know what... I need to get back to the basics.

Checking in around if I am blended with a Part is and will continue to be the most important practice in IFS. I believe our society is still stuck in old belief systems around what healing is or the idea of quick fixes. Like we need to drop these past burdens quickly so we can move on to experience "the good stuff" in life. This vision can be so appealing that sometimes we forget about the importance of just noticing our bodies, building a daily practice of mindfulness and knowing that safety is built brick by brick.

So I would propose that whether you feel comfortable enough to do IFS with clients, to sit with your own parts in rapid succession or are simple a beginner, don't forget the basics! Repeat the fundamentals and relearn the core principles of IFS as you continue to learn how to check with your body and assess the presence of polarized, protector parts.

Just asking, "Am I in Self energy or a Part?".

This practice of moment-to-moment body and interoceptive scanning goes a long way in harmonizng your inner world.
